A greeting from Norway!

Dear Morris family!

In 1984, I had the pleasure of spending some time and to get to know both your mom, Inge, Nicky and Tim! I lived downstairs in one of the rooms for some weeks, had the best service a young man could dream of and still remember Tim frequently offering a beer when coming home and we sat down for a chat (Black Label it was…and I am still a devoted beer lover;))

My name is Petter Lindqvist – you may still remember me, I went back to Norway to get on with my military education – which I also did. Today I serve as a colonel in the Norwegian Armed Forces, have a family with three beautiful daughters and a wife who have followed my on a number of job deployments to the Middle East, the Netherlands and Northern Norway.

I still recall the hospitality of your family, and never really got to tell you how much I appreciated the way you treated me as a family member.

My daughter Vilde is now on her journey to SA – first to stay as a volunteer in the Letsatsi La Africa Predator Park, just east of Klerksdorp. She will also visit Cape Town, travelling with a friend and staying in Cape Royale Luxury Hotel and Spa from 25 jan to 31 jan. Had I known you are still in the accommodation branch, I would have let them look here, but they wanted to find out things on their own, just the way I did many years ago:)

I noted that Mrs Morris has had a tough time – but do hope she is recovering. Please pass my best and warm wishes to the family!  – and if you have any advice for to young Norwegian ladies discovering the Cape surroundings, I know that both the parents back home and the girls too will probably appreciate it, especially knowing there are people down there who took so well care of that Norwegian way back in 1984!

Sincerely;

Petter HF Lindqvist

Update - Inge

Inge Morris was seen by Dr Welsch this morning.

He is EXCEPTIONALLY pleased with her progress. He admitted that he didn’t think that she would ever walk again.

He says that he has just come back from a convention in London where the discussions were primarily about exactly the condition that granny has experienced … apparently it is on the increase and the general consensus is that it is probably due to the rapid growth of “super bugs” worldwide as a result of the abuse of antibiotics.

AND THE BEST NEWS OF ALL ….. wait for it …..

She is allowed to take the brace off. X-ray in one week, which he will have a look at and then take it from there!

Granny has been all smiles as a result, ….. and remarkably lucid today

Starting to walk again

Good news, got a walker for Mum on Monday 12th, and on that day she walked unassisted with the walker all the way from the car to her room.  Has been practicing walking every day which is exhausting her like trying to run a marathon would the rest of us, but we are keeping spirits up and moving forward determinedly towards independent living again.

Good Progress

Good News,

Mum has made good progress, getting stronger every day.  We have had two outings, one to Sea Point for a walk along the promenade, and the second to Rhodes Memorial for coffee and fattening cakes!

Mum will be joining us for our Christmas celebrations this evening and tomorrow.

Road to recovery

Friday 12th December, 10 days out of hospital and progress is slow, but at least Mum is pain free and lucid.  Have had some nice chats with her.  I have missed her whilst she was so ill.
