Good Progress

Good News,

Mum has made good progress, getting stronger every day.  We have had two outings, one to Sea Point for a walk along the promenade, and the second to Rhodes Memorial for coffee and fattening cakes!

Mum will be joining us for our Christmas celebrations this evening and tomorrow.

Road to recovery

Friday 12th December, 10 days out of hospital and progress is slow, but at least Mum is pain free and lucid.  Have had some nice chats with her.  I have missed her whilst she was so ill.

Inge Morris

Inge was discharged from hospital today, Tuesday 2nd December.  She is now relatively pain-free.  She will require fairly intensive physiotherapy initially as she is very weak and will need to wear a back brace for at least 3 months.

Thank you for all thoughts and good wishes that have been sent to Inge.

HEALING CIRCLE

Hi Nicola

Hope I am doing this properly so that it goes on the blog - must look up blog!

That is great news about not being TB. It did seem a little odd to me. Communication is key, isnt it.

Lots of love as usual to Inge and you all over there in the sunshine. Its freezing here and dark already, at 3.55pm!

Keep me posted.

Hi Julia,

Thanks for your mail. We have found out it is not TB because Liz looked in the file. The communication process is slow in hospitals here and sometimes we have to battle to get the info out of them.

I have posted Liz’s feedback to the blog, feel free to post to the blog if you want, Mum will read it all when she is out of hospital and feeling stronger, you can post to the blog by emailing to info21674.ingemorris@blogger.com.

Regards,

Nicola

Dear Nicola

I was very concerned and so sorry to receive your e mail about Mum's fall.

Forgive my lack of knowledge, but I dont understand about TB, and how the infection has become TB? Has Mum had the operation yet? Poor Inge, please give her my love and say to her she is very much in my thoughts. I have also told my mother and she will say a special prayer for mum today when she goes to church.

I know you will have lots of people to keep informed, but if you can please keep in e mail touch and let me know how Mum is progressing.

Love to you all.

Julia

Inge Morris Update

Inge has now moved from the ICU to the ward after a successfully completed operation (on Friday) … fusion of T12 and L1, removal of pus and a substantial amount of the vertebra (L1). Two screws used. One unit of blood to try and raise the Hb of 8.

We still do not know officially what the culture results are.

We intend bringing her back home after discharge from hospital … presumably Friday.

A brace has been ordered and she is receiving twice daily physiotherapy.

Thank to everyone for your kind words, thoughts and wishes for Inge, please carry on posting to the blog (email to info21674.ingemorris@blogger.com) so she can read the blog when she is feeling stronger.

Good News

Mum was moved to the general ward today at about 6pm.  She is still quite confused but that is probably due to the medication.

HEALING CIRCLE

Inge who fell 9 weeks ago, has suffered immense pain and loss of movement, effectively being bed-ridden for the last 9 weeks.  infection pressing on spine. The doctor suspects tuberculosis. It is necessary to clear as much of the infected area as possible, which will necessitate 2 screws to stabilise the vertebra.

Please ask, pray for and/or visualize a swift, easy and full recovery.

Please pass this on to all who would like to participate.
Thank you!

Inge Morris

On Saterday 20th September, Inge Morris fell and sustained bad bruising to her pelvis. She has been unable to walk properely or lead an independent life since then. Shortly after her fall we arranged 24/7 caring staff in her home. We have had several worrying moments over the last 9 weeks, but have remained strong as a family.

On Friday Mum was admitted to hospital to remove a lump that was pressing on her spine, and to fuse part of the spine. The operation went well, and was completed without complication. Hospital staff are hoping to move Mum to a general ward today. They originally anticipated only a week in hospital, and so far we are going according to their time plan.

I have set up this blog to record Mum's progress, and also for friends and family to put thoughts and wishes.

If you would like to post a message on this Blog for Inge or our family, please do so by emailing info21674.ingemorris@blogger.com.
